Gemini 3.7 Flash pricing: Google's new value play

Gemini 3.7 Flash costs $0.75 per 1M input and $3.75 per 1M output — priced the same as Gemini 3.6 Flash but higher on the intelligence index. Here's what changed and who should care.

Gemini 3.7 Flash pricing: Google’s new value play

Google’s Flash line has always been the “good enough, much cheaper” tier. Gemini 3.7 Flash, released 13 Aug 2026, is the first one that matches its predecessor’s price while beating it on the intelligence index — a same-price upgrade rather than a budget compromise.

The numbers

Gemini 3.6 Flash Gemini 3.7 Flash Gemini 3.8 Flash
Input / 1M $0.75 $0.75 $0.75
Output / 1M $3.75 $3.75 $3.75
Intelligence index 34 39 41
Context window 1M tokens 1M tokens 1M tokens

It’s a rare same-price upgrade: Gemini 3.7 Flash costs exactly the same as Gemini 3.6 Flash — $0.75 in / $3.75 out — yet scores higher on the intelligence index (39 vs 34). That pattern has since repeated: Gemini 3.8 Flash arrived on 2 September at the same price with an index of 41, which makes it Google’s best Flash buy today, and it is why we now treat 3.6 Flash as superseded. All three Flash models are on promotional pricing through December 31, 2026 — from January 1, 2027 the price rises to $1.50 / $7.50.

Indices are on Artificial Analysis’s Intelligence Index v4.3, which is scaled lower than the version in use when this article was first published. Earlier figures of 52 and 56 for these two models came from that previous scale.

How it sits against the frontier

An index of 39 puts it within reach of GPT-5.6 Sol (47) — a model that charges $4 / $20. At $0.75 / $3.75, Gemini 3.7 Flash undercuts OpenAI’s flagship on output by more than 5×, and it sits level with the Flash tiers of every other lab.

That’s why it’s one of the highest intelligence-per-dollar scores in our calculator, and the strongest budget pick for long-context work: 1M tokens of context at Flash prices is unusual.

Where it wins — and where it doesn’t

  • Wins: cost-sensitive workloads, long documents, high-volume summarization and classification, and anything where you’d otherwise reach for a frontier model “just in case”.
  • Doesn’t win: it’s still the Flash tier, not the Pro tier. If you need Google’s top reasoning, Gemini 3.1 Pro is the Pro-grade option — though on value, the Flash generation has now leapfrogged it. And if you are choosing between Flash models today, Gemini 3.8 Flash is the newer, higher-indexed one at the same price.

Subscriptions vs API

Gemini 3.7 Flash is included in Google AI Pro ($19.99/month) — see Gemini’s full pricing page. For metered API use, the math is simple: at $0.75 / $3.75 — and with promotional pricing running through the end of 2026 — a heavy coding month costs a fraction of what the frontier flagships charge.
