A subscription is only worth it if it is cheaper than the tokens you would buy instead — and if its limits cover how you actually work. Use the AI intelligence calculator to price your own monthly volume against every provider, or compare the whole market on the subscriptions page.
FAQ
Is ChatGPT Free really free?
Yes — ChatGPT Free is a free tier with limits: message limits apply. It is a good way to try ChatGPT's models before paying, but for sustained volume the API or a paid plan is usually cheaper per token.
Which models does ChatGPT Free include?
ChatGPT Free includes GPT-5.6 Luna.
What is the best alternative to ChatGPT Free?
The ChatGPT API is the natural next step once the free tier's limits get in the way — price your own volume in the calculator before committing to a paid plan.
